Review: Prohibited Speech

"Prohibited speech", March 7, 2006Evidently, we must now add criticism of college professors to our list of "prohibited speech." Before finishing "The Professors", I decided to come to Amazon reviews to find out which negative appellations had been assigned to Horowitz and his book. Here is a sampling: Rubbish, venomous, McCarthy[ism], drivel, vicious, racist (as always), ex-Marxist ideologue, bitter uber-conservative hack, liar, hate, vitiol [sic], goose-step (and other Nazi implications as always), neo-Stalints [sic], witch-hunt [sic], asinine, filth, steaming BS, lunatic, rants of a troubled man, inane vulgarity, pathetic right-wing ranting, garbage, idiotic, and the usual generic, disrespectful Christian bashing. (Of course, Horowitz is Jewish, not Christian, but never mind.) Many of these one-star folks claim to be products of our university system. Many also demonstrate that the people of the left's ballyhooed tolerance of other points of view disappears when they realize there ARE other points of view. That is part of the point of the book. If Horowitz is sued for defamation by any of his subjects, he might use these reviews as a defense. The best way to read this book is to cherry-pick. Otherwise it gets old in a hurry.

I for one believe the Left's response and their allies' response to people like David Horowitz and other challengers, is that if you challenge them, they are exposing themselves to be hsyinh diversity.
