This book is nothing more than the uniformed rant of a racist, sexist, homophobic quasi-intellectual. Horowitz deserves to be classed with mysoginistic neo-nazi's hiding wilderness militia strong holds. A blatant anti-intellectual, his rant against freedom of speech, freedom of thought and racial, ethnic, religious and gender equality is nothing more than another sad example of anti-freedom dogma. If Horowitz had his way then we would live in a world of uniformed unquestioning political and intellectual submission to the wealthy white male elite of America.

Do I think that Horowitz is clever enough to know that he is really a fascist through and through? Yes.
But for those of you who are actually educated, I suggest you take a look at the first chapter of Perry Anderson's new book "SPECTRUM":... Written in 1991, it is prophetic in discerning the truly anti-democratic, crypto-fascist regime now spreading its wings in the United States.
As for Mr David Horowitz, he is a fascist twit who publishes garbage.

My response: I'm still waiting for an outraged leftist to read the book he (or she) is attacking. Over the weekend I came across this "review," which appears on TPMCafe a collective blog site created by Joshua Micah Marshall. The writer of the review obviously hasn't read the book, and hasn't the foggiest idea of what its argument is. Why do leftists engage is such exercises in absurdity? Check it out if you want to see a man talking to himself and patronizing whoever it is he thinks he's talking to at the same time.

Slit his throat? Is that modern liberalism with all of its glory showing the current level of tolerance? I thought the militant left supported liberal beliefs like freedom of the press, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion?
Oh, that was the old left. The new left is ready to slit your throat if you think unapproved thoughts.
It's always interesting to see people like this call anyone who challenges the radical Left and others who agree with their position as "fascists" or "racists". Even though they defend racist minority groups that the radical Left favors and of course use Communist tactics to "re-educate" people on the "truth" about America.
Understand two important concepts:
1) The left is completely uninterested in the truth; indeed, it rejects the concept of truth.
2) The irrational, anti-intellectual tactics of the left WORK! Raving lunatics accused Bush of ordering the New Orleans levees blown up. Racist crackpots fabricated preposterous tales and blatantly disregarded actual data. Result: Bush's poll numbers dropped sharply and have not recovered.
Yes, leftists lie and slander because they cannot think. But, never doubt the effectiveness of their effort.
But the most jaw-dropping line is this one:

Huh?? David's "rant" (if there is one) is in favor of freedom of speech and thought, not against it.
I find it ironic that the Left has become exactly what it claims to despise about the Right:
- Intolerant. No deviation of the Left's party line on any issue is tolerated. Note the recent castigation of Chris Hitchens when he criticized the Left for its failure to combat Islamo-facism.
- Reactionary. The programs implemented by the left in the 60's are not to be questioned. Any analysis critical of their programs is automatically discounted as racist, etc.
- Bigoted. Vicious contempt for people of religous faith, those who speak with a southern accent, etc.
My hope is that when the Baby Boom generation is finally dead and buried, the nation will start to get beyond the excesses of Leftism. Somebody should write a book called "The Worst Generation".
